Why I'm a write-in Candidate

Why I Did Not Run in the Primary

When it became clear that District 3 County Commissioner Sharon Trask would not be seeking another term, my husband and I carefully watched the field of candidates who stepped forward. We took the time to consider the individuals running and ultimately found a candidate we believed in and wanted to strongly support. At that time, I felt that supporting that candidate was the best way for me to serve our community.

Unfortunately, our candidate did not finish first or second in the primary and therefore did not advance to the general election.

After the primary, I took a very serious look at what was best for Mason County. After much thought and many conversations with people I trust, I made the difficult decision to step forward as a write-in candidate.

I did not make this decision lightly. I am doing it because I love this community, I have a deep personal investment in Mason County, and I believe my experience and perspective can bring something important to the County Commission.

I bring experience in education and administration, years of community involvement, and firsthand experience as a small-business owner. Most importantly, I believe in common sense, personal responsibility, transparency, and accountability. I believe elected officials should be willing to listen to the people they represent, ask difficult questions, and take responsibility for the decisions they make.

I didn't enter this race because running for office was part of my original plan. I entered because, after the primary, I believed there was still a need for a candidate who would bring a different perspective and be willing to stand up for the people of Mason County.

Becoming a write-in candidate was a difficult choice—but I believe it was the right choice for me and for the community
